This fella is plenty colorful. Looks hungry, too! Argiope Aurantia, or Black and Yellow Garden Spider (aptly named). Not poisonous.

One of his children I would guess - they are pretty!  Was moving some fence from under the lean-to when my “spidey-sense” caused me to look over and avoid the large web.

I've been seeing a lot of these spiders around this time of year too Artie.

I've noticed that some move off the web when they see me coming, and others don't. I'm glad at least that these have that zipper portion in the middle of the web that is a little more visible than some other spider webs. I always hate the feeling of running into a spider web.

Nothing worse than a face full of spider web, Steve!  Happens to me all the time on trails this time of year.  Like you, I do appreciate the zipper pattern this spider makes which makes it much more visible.
