I have recently purchased 11 acres in Kentucky that we will be moving to in a couple of years. It was a great price that we couldn't pass up and the only drawback I can see so far for us is that it is a North facing slope. Any suggestions on maximizing my sun potential? It can't be too bad since the property is a tangle of briar bushes and pine trees, and they seem to be getting plenty of sun. But before we start designing the property, I'd love some input

I don't know conditions in Kentucky too well, but north facing slopes in many regions are great for growing trees, and since they may be cooler, they keep fruit trees from budding too early and losing buds to late frosts. As long as it's not so steep that it doesn't get much sun, and the other factors are there (good soil and water, etc.) it should be a good place.

totally agree with Toby on the tree thing..fruit trees love north facing slopes as the frost drains away from them. Here in Michigan the north slope can save your fruit.
