I hope this is the correct place to post.
When I moved into my house a few years ago I found 4 largish boxes of canning jars, mainly quart size. I had every intention of using them but as we all know plans change, so now they are getting in the way.
They need cleaning as they have been stored in an old barn, but I can't bring myself to throw them out. So if anyone in or near Roswell NM wants them for free, PM me.

Wish I was near Roswell! I'll move this to the flea market section, and change your title a bit, so it gets noticed there :)
Welcome to Permies! :D

Tell me when they go, and I'll mark them gone. I have a watch on my name, so just put "Pearl" in a post, and I'll see it.

This is the sort of thing I wish I could find. Canning is not as common in Europe as it is in the states and two part jar lids and the corresponding screw-top jars are hard to get hold of at a reasonable price.  I did ask our (UK) food safety government sad guys about their recommendations for canning jars and they came back saying they just wouldn't advise canning at all. Hmmmmmm.

Uh... Ok.... I have been canning to one extent or another most of my life. I have never gotten ill from anything I canned. My personal opinion of what they said is well past the "be nice" standards on Permies, but if you think of something rotten, you'll probably be correct :)

I buy second hand jars whenever I see them below my buy price (right now it's at 1.00 each for wide mouth quart, .75 for small mouth quart, .75 for wide mouth pint, .50 for small mouth pint.) (I REALLY prefer wide mouth jars and will pay more for them.) I have never had too many jars for my taste yet.

Wonder if anyone imports them to where you are, or if you can get a good deal on shipping in a bunch and start selling them locally? New job for ya' Mandy! I know you have NOTHING else you do with your time (Ha! I know how much you do...)

:D

She said size doesn't matter, so I showed her this tiny ad:
