Infecting Minds!

Hi. I've been noticing there is a lot of activity on Reddit, people trying to start gardening in their surprising new situation. Many people making requests in Seedswap because they can't go out for seeds and online places are swamped.

I figure this is a good time to infect some minds! Anyone else noticed people looking for opportunities due to this unexpected change of circumstances?

I've had a few neighbors ask about my chickens lately, wondering how hard it is to raise them. And a few questions about gardening as well.

I went ahead and packaged up some of my spare seeds in case the neighbors can't get any. My seed collection is pretty big, so this was an option.

I fully expect that by next fall, there will be gardens and chicken coops up and down the block.

Oh, and on another forum dedicated to prepping, a new member started their introduction with the words "First off, I want to apologize to all the preppers I've made fun of over the years. You were right, and I was a jerk."

Even my father is seeing the sense behind my gardening and homesteading obsessions.

That's great, Ellendra! I've been busy with projects I've been planning all winter and now I want to find ways to help people out. I'm going to go through my seeds tomorrow and make some sets to give away. I want to figure out a good way to do that. Any advice is welcome.

I had to take my daughter to work the other day so I ran into the garden center, to get a couple of veggies, and they didn't have anything to speak of. I was told they sell out as soon as they come in. This is not the norm.

Yes, that too. I know people who were planning to purchase grown plants rather than seeds. At least it's Spring (for us) and it's not too late. The value of certain things has fluctuated suddenly.

I think it can be a good thing to promote resourcefulness, and community too. Two permie principles.
