Wind power

I am wondering where to find good info on wind power? I can find tons on solar but I have a hard time finding stuff about wind.

Start with wind potential.  This is where I started ... and stopped.

Basically the critical issue is wind-potential - or how much consistent wind is there.  A few windy days doesn't cut it.  a 30m tower is likely the minimum, and even then you need to ensure that its local placement is "high" and not in a valley, obscured by trees, buildings, etc.

Unless you are in a spectactularly windy place PV solar seems to be a better economic option for small scale.

There’s lots on the web about Hugh Piggotts work with wind energy. He has written books on the subject.

Another website for wind is other-power

Thanks Jeremy!

From Otherpower: "And always remember--solar works great, but it's boring compared to wind. "

One of the staff members here shows you how to generate electricity with a washing machine motor:

You can check out WindSolarForum.com   It has some basic information on the site, but as mentioned,  need the right location and clean air 50 feet above the tree line.
