There's a little shed in the backyard, yellow with lilac trim and a moon and stars thingy from some prior tenant. We call it Spider Hut. (This is for the PEP Program, and the Community Badge Bit to Brand a Physical place.)

For my son, Spider Hut is surrounded with a bit of mystery. It's not a playhouse; some of our things are in it, sure: but probably mold, too. And it's not called Spider Hut for nothing.

He comes with me when I mount an expedition to the Spider Hut to retrieve some lost item. He now brings his foam rapier sword to protect me. I plan to give him a key, so he's independently able to lock and unlock it by himself.

We live in a rental house, our fourth such place in as many years. With all that moving, I think it's even more important to create a sense of place where we live. Call it internal community. Such as we can anyways, given that we don't own the property, and the factors that have caused us to move that much remain both present and out of my hands.

The last place we lived had a Spider Hut, too. So will the next. I'll share here any fun stories I recall or that occur. But now, at least, our current Spider Hut has a proper sign.

You wouldn't think by looking at it that it's full of spiders.

That's my roommate. He's kinda weird, but he always pays his half of the rent. And he gave me this tiny ad:
