Counter Balance Loom

There doesn't seem to be a thread about larger, home-scale looms, although I know there are permies weavers out there.

Sooo... the story is that a friend of mine couldn't see a loom (in pieces) go to the dump, so he took it, then couldn't find it a home, then as he was giving up I spotted the heddles sitting out in front of his garage and asked... so it's now on my living room floor! Hubby spotted a label, so first guess is that it is a 3 ft INCA counter-balance loom produced by Leclerc in Quebec. Well... sort of... because there's also parts of a 2 ft, 2 heddle loom in the mix. TWO puzzles, with mixed up parts and who knows what might be missing!

I will take a picture later and you can all help me with the assembly -  virtually at least!

The good news so far is that this lovely website - https://www.camillavalleyfarm.com/weave/leclerchistory.htm  had parts lists and instructions to get us started.

This won't be happening fast, but it will be happening, so stay tuned...

So first I had to take the "heap I was handed" and try and sort it. I knew that some of the important parts were there - heddles, warp roller and cloth roller, treddles and parts for the beater. I found out quickly though that there's a *lot* missing unfortunately. The breast beam and the back beam are sometimes interchangeable, but clearly there's only one in the heap. So here's a photo of the "heap" and below it an enigma - what are those pieces of board? They're clearly not some "accident". Does anyone recognize anything related to weaving or fiber arts that they would be for? They're multiple different lengths, but all in the 4 ft range.

can I see a photo of the logo and any other stickers?  

Oh, an Inca!  Classic.  Now there's a loom I haven't seen in action.

Lost of puzzle.  There are parts from more than one loom in that pile.  Lots of reeds (hint - that's one of the more expensive bits).  And other things (do I see a tension box?).  

I think it's worth trying to put together what you do have to see what's missing.  I'm excited.  

I'm not sure what a tension box is, but yes there are 3 x 3ft reeds two that are quite similar and one that's got much larger spacing. Unfortunately, some prior owner seemed to be trying to change it in some way, so many of the parts appear to have been sawn shorter - wood that the picture shows should have been cut at an angle, appear to have been re-cut at 90 degrees. Just tonight I labelled 3 more parts 101, 102 and 126. I'd already identified 103, 104 150 and 151.

Another change made is that one of the reeds is encased in a box, but there's no sign of the original vertical supports (121 IN).  The instruction manual give gross measurements for those two parts, but not the precise location of the holes for example. Some of this I might be able to fake, but it's hard to tell whether it would be worth the time it might take. Definitely many of the "expensive bits" are still functional or close enough I could repair them, but the original "lam and lam support" (137 and 140) are missing.

All that I can be sure of for the second loom are 2 x 2 ft heddles and one reed. I'm guessing it was a table loom.
