Is thier a reason this hasnt been done already? Dome ( well semi dome) shape green house for an earthship. The only reason I can think if is 'because it would be hard'.

And expensive.  The Phoenix earthship kind of added a dome to it.  

There are solar gain issues to watch for, the earthship has a tiny greenhouse for a reason.

I suspected the size of the dome its self would  effect thermal mass heat storage in the house.

Even if the 'U' shape of the house was changed to accommodate the dome shape.

A firm in Romania are selling earth covered dome homes. A close approximation perhaps?

The biggest issue for me with domes is figuring out a way to cover them.  There are so many small surfaces to be covered, it seems very hard to do without leaks and a lot of waste from cutting materials into weird shapes.  There is a reason buildings have always had rectangular surface areas.
