Hi. This is rather late for an introduction, but better late than never. Although I’ve been a member of permies.com for several years, I only started posting a year ago.

I came here to learn about permaculture and how it can be used in my life, and what skills I need (and have) that can be used towards that end.

My intentions are simple; all I really need materially is a manageable and productive herb and vegetable garden (and a hugel. I really gotta start hugelling. NO EXCUSES for why I haven't hugelled anywhere yet. )... as well as to learn to upcycle, downsize and otherwise lead a simple, frugal life within our means.

▪ REduce
▪ REuse
▪ REcycle
▪ REpair
▪ REpurpose
▪ REstore
▪ REcover
▪ REthink
▪ REpent
▪ REjoice

I've come to really enjoy visiting permies.com and gradually post here. It is quite the antidote to the raucous noise and misbehavior out there in other social media sites. Here, people are kind and generally well-informed about what they post and (as far as I know) charitably corrected or questioned if a post seems...odd. It seems that all kinds of people are on here and are welcomed.

Paul, thank you for taking the time to introduce yourself! It's nice to put some personality with the names we see.

You have good goals, and now that you've started posting to the forums, I know you'll find good support. This is one of the most encouraging online communities I belong to. I suspect you'll find posting your goals and projects will be motivating to get them done! I know it's that way for me.  :)

Welcome!

Glad you're here, Paul! Look forward to seeing how your gardening and hugeling come along.

(I came here for similar reasons, looking for info on a hugelbed, at this point every single one of my garden beds have been hugeled at least once, great fun!)

Welcome!

That's along the lines of having an ”accountability partner”! You see your goals posted, now you're encouraged to get going and do them!

It seems quite uncomplicated: grab some sticks and branches and such lying around (and we have plenty on our land); bury them and plant things on top. I may need to do that when I expand my garden; partly for erosion control. The new space for next year slopes downward.

Indeed it is! My space is also a decent slope and I combined hugels with terraces, with good results and much less erosion.

It's never done THAT before. Explain it to me tiny ad:
