Solar panels mounted to standing seam roof on moving tiny house?

Hey everyone! I am building a tiny house and would like the opinions if placing my solar panels on the roof of our home before travel is a good idea. We are using ace clamps for our 1.5” 75 lbs panels and I am worried there will be uplift on the panels that would potentially rip them off the roof, but at the same time they are 75 lbs so I wonder if the weight will keep them down.

Winds at highway speed create a huge amount of force. It just might rip the roof off along with the panels. I wouldn't risk it.

Argue for your limitations and they are yours forever.

Consider this ... a Cessna type airplane lifts off the ground at around 55mph. The angle of attack of the wings is approximately the same as the solar panels would be. Solar panels can shatter if they flex so even if they stay attached to the roof they might be destroyed.

Argue for your limitations and they are yours forever.

I believe if the roof is securely fastened to the frame of the house, and the panels are held with clips screwed
to the frame, it will be ok.
Consider a wind deflector at the front to prevent wind going under the panels.

If they're screwed to the frame proper, I wouldn't worry. I converted an ambulance to a camper, and attached the panels with self tapping screws (to admittedly a very thick aluminum roof). Have taken it over 80, no problems.

If the panels are flush to the roof and flashed to avoid air getting below them, I would expect you would be OK...

what does the clip manufacturer say about max wind speed?
