So might load up wood chips 12 inches? or maybe 6 inches.  I dug a small pool area that helps drainage.

https://permies.com/t/80/120453/Great-Wood-Chips  (my post when snow was on ground.   Shows pool drainage the area around the pool is marshy, I have a small shallow trench leading into pool.  I did pile organic stuff and crushed glass next to foundation a year ago.   Still a marshy area on North side of house.)
