Guerilla planting Western Columbine

Hello Permies! I've only recently started trying to grow things, using containers on my deck. I'm located in Pacifica in the SF bay, among the trees. I've been trying to grow native plants, and I noticed that Western Columbine does really well in the conditions I have. I've already purchased a bunch of columbine seeds - far more than I could use if I manage to keep them all alive. I was thinking of taking the extras I end up with and planting them around the forests in Pacifica. Columbine does well on forest floors, and it's native to the california coast, although I haven't seen any while hiking around. Does this sound like a good idea? I would wait until fall so they have a better chance at survival.
