Using small branches in the wall?

I have an idea to use branches in the retention wall. My thought was to tightly bundle them together using rope or twine. I then had the idea to add a more substantial branch or log to the center of each bundle as a core. It seems like a thick enough bundle would block the sight of plastic.

I am thinking the sticks may poke holes in the plastic, so maybe a layer of cardboard or something may be necessary.

This seems like a good use for the branches from the trees cut for posts. What are your thoughts?

What do you define a retention wall as being?

The wall behind the posts in a wofati or oheler structure. The layer that is covered in plastic used to hold the dirt back

That wall is holding back tons of dirt, and I do not think anything small and soft or flexible would be a good idea. Branches are likely to be more sapwood than even small logs, and less resistant to deterioration. The effort of bundling enough of them to fit the area would likely be greater than cutting more smallish trees.
