I want to use the moldy hay trick when imdommy fall fertilization but imalsomwant to try the organic fertilizer from ringers. Can or should I do both? How much of the ringers should I use if I use the moldy hay as well?
Thanks!

Anna, I was waiting to see if anyone else had answered your question. I am afraid that I am not of much help since I don't purchase fertilizer for my lawn. Not even hay. My ducks, geese and turkeys wander across different areas from time to time (and poop) and there are a large variety of plants growing in my lawn and I am adding more different plants all of the time. Dandelions, oxalis, chickweed, purslane, crabgrass, millet, oats - just what ever will grow.

For pictures of my 'lawn' check out my link at the bottom called 'projects'. Sorry I could not be of more help with this question.

Yeah I wish I had a natural source of fertilzer like you do. That would be great! Your lawn looks great. Thanks for sharing.

I'd start with just the moldy hay if you can get your hands on it. Cheaper! As it's not really an exact science working with materials like this, you'll probably end up experimenting and seeing what works for you. Find your place on the spectrum:

Cheapest: Just moldy hay
Laziest: Just Ringers (I make the assumption that spreading granulated fertilizer is easier than spreading hay...I'm sure there are those that would flip that!)
Cheap (ish) and Lazy (ish): Moldy hay and 1/4 rate of Ringers
Scientific Method (ish): Start with just moldy hay. Add Ringers to taste (until you like how it all works)
