Hi. Hey. Hello there. I must first say that I stumbled upon this forum about a month ago while feverishly searching for all of the permaculture/homesteading knowledge I can absorb. I recently purchased a 4.5 acre property in Rhode Island and am beginning my journey towards self reliance. I am a Chef by trade with a lovely wife, 3 boys and a little girl. Gardening has been an interest of mine for many years and has truly been a focus in the last 3 or so years. goals include establishing an orchard, expanding the garden to a size that will feed my family, setting up brew operations, introducing livestock, and creating a sustainable life on our property. I am loving all of the knowledge on this site and am really looking forward to being a part of this community! Attached are a couple pictures of our new project (and the lovely weather vane that came with the place!)

Hi Jayme;    Big Welcome to Permies!
That looks like a very nice place you just bought.
You have found the right place to discus your future plans and  ongoing projects.
We have all kinds of good folks that regularly hang out here.  There is an amazing amount of information  to be had for the asking.
Your off to a good start, we love pictures with a post!  That weathervane is very unique !
For your garden I suggest looking into a Hugle  mounds to be a starting point for any new beds.
For any extra heating needs stop on by the rocket mass heater forum and read all about the home built 90%+ efficient  wood burners.
We have forums for livestock and we have forums on just about anything else  you might want to know!

Stay around a while and come back often!
We will leave the light on for you!
