Has anyone here tried building a wind catcher for home cooling?

I saw this BBC article: https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20210810-the-ancient-persian-way-to-keep-cool

It talks about ancient towns across the middle east using wind catchers to keep their homes cool. I'm curious if anyone has tried replicating this on a small scale in modern times - the article talks about city planners using them, but this technique could probably be useful in a single home. It would need the proper environment to be useful - probably desert or chaparral type biome. I also wonder if you could have a lid on it somehow, so you can control how much wind gets captured and used.

Yes I have built a few and written about them on this site somewhere.
Under ventilation I think.
Western countries could go a long way adopting the 'technology' instead of using air conditioning.
