What's wrong with my cherries? Is it the heat?

I have an 8 year old dwarf sour cherry (northstar). Last year it gave a great crop, despite some curculio damage. This year most of the young fruit are scarred, stained, and misshapen. See pictures below. Does anyone know what caused this? It kind of looks like the petals were "fried" onto the developing fruit. Is that a thing anyone has seen before? We did have awful May heatwave.

It looks like it could be frost damage. Mine all fell off this year due to it.
