planting trees on hugelkultur beds

trying to map this out in my mind, and i really am only coming up with a few things. I can see that getting an orchard ladder to a tree surrounded by 5' mounds would be an issue, as well, i'd rather not walk on the planting area to extensively or at all(the hugel beds). I have enough wood that i can cover the entire area(about 8 acres) with hugel beds, and, that would be a great thing until the trees grow up and take up most of the space, as production moves away from herbaceous things to tree products. HOWEVER, i don't want to separate anything, i'd rather grow vegetables/etc under/around the trees, but, again, getting to the fruit in the trees would be a chore if there were giant mounds around it. hmmm...

you can BURY the wood around the trees, or even put some wood on top of the soil around baby trees to protect their growth..

thank you, thats good to know, but, i was talking about spacing, how would i get up in a fully grown tree with mounds all around it? but, after thinking about it, i'm probably just going to separate my vegetable and tree crops a little bit. I've been traveling and after getting back 'home' i thought there were more trees than there actually are, so, its looking like i won't actually rows and rows of hugel beds covering the property, so i won't really have to worry about it so much. still open to ideas suggestions.

I have some trees planted next to hugel beds..and some established trees I buried logs near the trees and planted perennials on top

I buried wood around existing young apple trees and they doubled their growth rate. I've continued to add material between the trees so they are in shallow basins. This is probably more appropriate to my dry location than it would be in a wetter location. I'm planting trees in low hugelkultur mounds, and I hope some roots will grow down into the soil to anchor the trees, but these are not going to be very large trees. I think the very tall steep mounds probably work best as a place to grow berries, smallish fruiting shrubs and vegetables and maybe not suitable for tall fruit and nut trees. I'd be concerned about large trees planted in the tall mounds eventually toppling over.
