Why has spell check not recognized the term "permaculture?" Whether it's Microsoft Word, this forum, or any other text program I get a big red squiggly line underneath the term everytime. Should we seek the formal recognition of the word, like put it in the Dictionary or something?

It is not this site that rejects permaculture, but rather the spell checker in your browser.
I know Firefox 'squiggles' it.

Okay thanks. Yes I am using Firefox. It does it in Microsoft Word 2007 too, I do not know if it squiggles in a newer version of Microsoft. I just checked Merriam Webster's online and the word has been recognized.

Perhaps a newer version of M$ Word has it included. A full blown word processor usually has a comprehensive spell checker.

On the other hand, I believe that most browsers, in an attempt to stay 'lighter', will use a much more abbreviated version.
Some light weight spell checkers simply include the x-many thousand most commonly misspelled words.
