I've been working on turning my property into a permaculture farm to get closer to self-sufficiency, be more at one with nature, etc. for me and my family.

I'm quite interested in taking it further and trying to make a living. I feel like I'd need to put in a decent amount of upfront work without pay and there's a substantial amount of risk involved that makes me feel a strong sense of caution.

Where can I find some good examples of business plans or real-life P&L reports for permaculture farms available for reference?

I'm in the same boat.  We have the land and live within an hour of a metropolitan area (customers) so we are looking for ways to make our farm profitable.  I've been experimenting with growing fruit and have been successful so this year we are planning to plant a larger U-pick berry farm.  We will also sell at farmer's markets and I will freeze what doesn't sell and make finished goods with them to sell at farmer's markets.  I've done a lot of research and I know others have been very successful so now we'll get to find out if we can be successful.  Good luck with your venture and please keep us posted of the progress.

I would assume that these folks have or had financially viable permaculture farms at one time or another:

Sepp Holzer, Geoff Lawton, Paul Wheaton, Willie Smits, Toby Hemenway, Rosemary Morrow, Ruth Stout, Eric Toensmeier, Brad Lancaster, and Mark Shepard

And for fun these folks:

As for your question about some good examples of business plans these threads might help:

I hope you will find something that will help.
