Land for lease or space to rent for winters?

Hi All

I am starting into a new chapter of my permie life adventure. I am a single woman who works from home. I have 20 acres in the Columbia River Gorge where I am slowly establishing a homestead. I am contemplating making this a two node setup with this land as my primary homestead for late spring through late fall and perhaps leasing a space from others for the winter and early spring.

Among the challenges is my draw to livestock. I’d likely be coming with a small flock of chickens (less than 20) a few milking sheep, a cat, a pyrenees, and possibly eventually a cow. I’d love to be able to be outdoors more of the time, and to spend time around amazing people tending to my animals and doing things I love (like canning all things in sight.)

This may be a crazy idea but migratory living feels like a yes. Maybe I’d eventually buy another plot once I find a spot and a community I love. I love this area most of the year but the lack of sun in the winters is hard, my body feels like it’s running in low gear and I’m wondering if there might be an alternative to this.

Has anyone else explored this sort of thing?  Please PM me with your musings and findings.

You could stay here in subtropics. 3 acres lake front. 1 acre is fenced for sheep or goats were the. Lot of grass and big old trees. Leucena, mesquite, palms. But how would you transport your animals this far? I drove here from Central California with a friend in a Camper. Stopped on these rest stops walked our 3 dogs cat staid in and we slept or drove again. But you will have to travel  to get to better climate. Appleacupuncture23@gmail.com

Thank you both for your replies. After discussing with friends here, they’d be willing to board my animals with theirs for the winter. I would still probably have a cat or maybe a dog in tow but this opens up a lot of possibilities!

If your still looking, I have a place in Northern New Mexico. Though it is completely off grid which turns most people off. Lol. Typically warm days but cold nights.
Just putting it out there.

So what becomes of your property during the winter? Or did I misunderstand your situation? Do you need a sitter of sorts?

I have 40+ acres in East Texas. If you are willing to make that trek, I am confident we could figure out a way for you to become a Winter Texan.
