All the posts I've written here are on Google. I love this site, but this is giving me chills. Please, someone tell me how to make this stop.

This is a reason I really don't like the real name policy...

I discovered this a few months ago and was pleased to know that the volume of my stuff on this site gives more results than you see for others who share my name. My hundreds of photos of pollinators and wildlife pop up when I do the same thing in Google Images. Photos of others who share my name are mixed with hundreds of my photos. A narcissist's dream.

From my understanding, you can utilize a "real sounding" name and this will meet the naming policy.
So, if privacy is an issue, get your alias on.
AKA Alter ego.

you think finding your name is bad, im sick of googling questions I can never answer then getting all excited when I find a link to the exact wording and it leads me back to my dam post on permies that went unanswered. I get so oh humm and bummed out, my real name shows up a tonne anyways from other lives so im happy if when you search for me you find fermenting urine and mixing it with biochar. It's better than when my name use to pull up the bad ol days of photography, and a terrible device that suggest itself as what you were looking for rather than my name.

But the policy is also that if one were to choose that option we can't let on that it isn't real. Correct?

My older brother enjoys quizzing me on all manner of general knowledge for the entertainment of himself and his friends. It's never a fair fight, because he'll sit with his laptop and all of the power of Google on his side, but I have only my brain to rely on. We had Christmas dinner at his place and afterward he decided to try to stump me. He peppered me with random questions about the natural world, history, the workings of various machines and then he got political and wanted to debate government farm policy. He found an article that he liked and used that as the platform for his position. We spent a couple minutes debating and then he gave up on forming his own arguments and began quoting directly from what he was reading as though it were scripture. I let him finish a sentence and then I said "let me try" and I delivered the next sentence. Then I told him to go to the beginning and tell me who wrote that. It was me. https://permies.com/t/11069/farm-income/Quota-system-stranglehold-Canadian-agriculture

His girlfriend and my younger brother were witness to this. They had a good laugh and then the younger brother said, "Now he'll never shut up". I haven't. Since then, I've learned to feed them search words that lead to me or to something that I agree with. Smack down.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On a more serious note --- Sometimes I want to look up an old thread where I was a contributor. Rather than go to Permies and then doing a search that can be tedious and fruitless, I go to Google and type in my name, followed by a couple lines of whatever I said in the thread that I'm looking for. It usually works. I wonder if I'm also training the search engines to find Permies whenever my name comes up.

Hey kids. At what age does the term "Dude" start to sound weird ? Can a guy who is 50 call his kids dude or would they look at him and roll their eyes ?

When I got the email notification I thought: you know, "googling self" sounds like something that churchgoing folk might be against. They'll have a town meeting and say "he was googling himself - in public!" "Will nobody think of the children?"

If the guy was parked near a school, he may very well have been thinking of the children as he Googled himself.

Russell Brand says that celebrities search their own name constantly. I'll link to him later. On a cell now.

Dude is legal for people of all ages now. Thanks to the Coen brothers and the Big Lebowski it's a religious term. I have a friend who is an ordained Dudist priest
