Rose,
They were already grafted - American persimmons grafted on American rootstock. Out of four that I had: Geneva, Meader, Nikita, Yates, only Nikita survived being Japanese/American hybrid. The other three were scorched by sun and hot wind. Shading, windbreaks from
pallets did not help at all. I also had "Sun" persimmon that was finished the same way. This proved that American persimmon can not survive my climate and probably other hot dry climates. The suckers on three trees are growing fine. I wanted to graft them next year, but probably will wait first to see when exactly they start waking up. They were the last trees to leaf out - in June/July. This way I will know when to schedule scion shipping. I will be grafting them only with Japanese scions.
I have also ordered 6 Japanese persimmon trees
