Bill's Quasi Daily Thread

Before bed, I thought I'd discuss starting a thread about my thoughts and experiences through the summer with Paul. Three hours later and I'm awake with nothing I'd rather be doing, so the discussion begins, here on Permies.com. I suspect Paul will have no problem with me keeping my attention narrowly focused on my own shtuff, at least while I'm at BC & on TL.

I am clean now, but still have dirty thoughts. For example:

This thread is not intended to be a forum re: proper grammatical usage. I do not believe in overhyphenating things. Please forgive any faux paus as I'm new to the forums. They do appear to contain a trove of highly valuable information and I'll be perusing many after returning home post super week one.

First item of business is catching you up on a game called Blitzkrieg Poker. This is a form of Hold 'Em poker I've finally taken to fruition whereby every dealer calls the order of cards for all. It has roots in Texas Hold 'Em, but the dealer decides the card exposure pattern. Last night was the first time I could convince anyone to humor me and play this game.

The rules differ as follows: see above. In addition, there are still always 7 cards and 4 rounds of betting. Cards are still either face down and personal or face up and community. Personal cards are dealt first each round, should there be any. The normal blinds work.

I'm the only dealer who played this game in our dealer pick penny game last night, so I used post it notes to indicate the sequence of cards. For example: R1 2d 1u (then bet), R2 1u, R3 2u, R4 1d which means I'm saying the first round is two cards down and one [community] card up, second round is one card up and so on through the "river."

share cool things you did or seen each day on TL

I'd like to but am serving detention in Lacey, Washington.

I picked up about 90 gallons of garbage pail trash on TL and saw many a cool trinket. I investigated the nature and source of the skeet we found (White Flyer Bio, US made) and I suggested we all go through the trash together. I think it's a good idea to leave certain of it on TL for future artisans to incorporate into their work, and also for its historic significance. I didn't even really want to remove it to BC for sorting, but that's how it worked out. The bears that came by Paul's the first night I was there (6/7/13) tipped his old apartment food waste bins over. They didn't do anything to the Rubbermaid TL trash I collected though. They were already familiar with all of that.

My camera got dusty and stopped working out there, so the pictures I took are all still on Paul's camera, the one he uses to photograph and record his "battle of the bulbs" stuff. My ATT phone also died repeatedly there. Basically, I came like Santa Claus and got broken off. But I'm working on my teaching cert here in/around OLYMPIA WA, so future interns needn't fear me.

I've been peeking into this thread. just haven't commented because didn't really have anything to comment.

on the apple thing though... I have two and no idea what its about at all...

I agree with Katie. No one was being rude, just didnt have a response.

Using the trash for art is a great idea.

1 tub of roughly 40 seed varieties

1 small jar of kala namak salt
1 grinder of red Hawaiian salt
some chai and green tea for others

That's a mighty nice supply of materials. I wish I were near TL, I could hook the empire up a little too.
