Any ideas for reducing the giant population of tent caterpillars and cankerworms that I have this year? The tent caterpillars are dropping out of the trees on little webs like mad, and the cankerworms can eat a plant into swiss cheese in one day.
I've found, in the case of tent caterpillars, that taking a stick and ripping a hole in their 'tent' allows the birds to swoop in and take care of the problem for me.
The only other solution that I know of would be to spray them with a soap solution.
