slope horizontal pipe up???

Hi All; I've been thinking and i'm wondering about a slight incline on my horizontal run through the mass, not much an inch or so each direction just somewhere for the heat to keep rising. Easy to do at this point,but i have'nt read anything about it... Sooo i'm wondering what i'm missing. Is this somthing that has been tryed before and not been a good idea? Or is this what everybody does and i'm just a little slow...(nothing new there). Any opinions? Tom

The heat is not going to "keep rising", because once the flue gases are in the horizontal run, they have slowed down and are now in laminar flow (as opposed to the turbulent flow in the riser of the stove). The flue gas is pretty much the same temperature, and as it flows along the pipe, it transfers its heat to the pipe. Once it exits the pipe though, there is a temperature/density difference with the outside air, and it will again rise in a turbulent fashion.

Thomas Rubino : Just a few additional thoughts,A little effort should go into making sure that the last of your Horizontal pipe should drain towards the last clean out before
you go vertical, especially if you are building an exterior chimney, that is where you should see your condensed water vapor.

Your ratio of dense/heavy rock to lighter weight Cob should be as high as you can make it, dense stone will soak up twice the heat energy that the lighter weight Cob can
hold. It will also radiate this heat to the surface twice as fast as the Cob, this would also make you want to have some amount of finish Cob with straw in the outer most
layers to temper any hot spots that your choice to rocks and rock locations would promote.

If there is one thing that I am sure of at this point, is there is not just one right way to make a R.M.H., but really there is a whole rainbow of ways to create wonderfully
working Individual masterpieces, all containing their own hungry Dragon just waiting to be pampered, and eager to take on the sacred duties of HOME dragon !
