Last evening My faithful dog who follows me when I am outside vanished. She was behind me …and then she wasn’t.  I had to call for an unusually long time before she returned.  She gave me some lame excuse about a squirrel, some birds ,and then a bunny.  Anyway, she did finish her chores with me.

What is neat is that a neighbor showed up on his four wheeler.  He had heard me yelling and checked to see if I needed help. Of course, I thanked him.

And I have one of those neighbors too.

After my surgery last Friday (11/8), my pain was minimal to negligible until about 5:00 pm Sunday.  I scrounged around and found an old painkiller from my last battle with kidney stones and went to sleep.  On Monday, I woke in pain and took another of the same pills, followed by another about two hours later as the pain increased instead of decreasing.  By this point I think I only had 3 total pills of various, mostly weaker strengths left and the pain was rising so I called an ambulance and got to the ER.

At the ER I was treated with heavy-duty pain meds which eased the pain and I was discharged with a prescription but there was absolutely no way that I could drive.  My wife was at work so I called my neighbor and he of course said that he would be there.  When he showed up, he asked if we needed to pick up a prescription so we did that and he then told me that he would not take me home until I got something to eat first as he was positive that I hadn’t eaten anything in a while (he was right).  So we got some food on the way home (his wife, a retired nurse made him take me to get some food!).  While driving he did tell me that there was one thing that bothered him about this whole episode—I initially called an ambulance instead of calling him first!

The neighbour diagonally below us, who shops where my husband works, likes to give us treats, and when we can we give him extra dinner.  The best treat he has given us was his newly smoked salmon that he had just caught, back in late summer was when this happened and oh my goodness best smoked salmon ever!
