Hello,
Can someone provide the recipe for magic water, please?  I’ve done several searches and can’t find the actual recipe, only it’s mention to use it.  As a newbie to raising chicks, I used it last year and it was amazing for my chicks.  I lost one chick at day 2 pre-MW, but had no losses post-MW.
Thank you very much!  I greatly appreciate the knowledge of this community!  Cheers!

Welcome to Permies!

I have not heard of 'magic water' but I'm not curious! Is it something like supplement specifically for chicks?

My first chicks I utilized an electrolyte additive that the breeder sent with them, but I haven't looked to deep making a natural version yet.

I never heard of magic water so I ask Mr Google because he knows everything.

Thank you, that’s the recipe!  I’m surprised you had to search the internet.  If I did not find the recipe here last year, I wonder where I found it?  I’ll have to try and figure it out and report back!  Thank you, sincerely!

I first heard about "magic water" from Justin Rhodes.

I reference his ingredient list here https://permies.com/t/223841/change-bedding-deep-litter-chickens#1911245 and it is also referenced in passing in some other threads.

Here is a link to an article using Justin's recipe. https://thisbeautifulfarmlife.com/magic-water-for-baby-chicks/

I know a dash of vinegar is added to water, probably as a disinfectant. But chickens hate onions???

I mix up a quart of warm water with one tablespoon raw honey, one tablespoon apple cider vinegar, and a small pinch of sea salt. Offer it fresh for the first two days after hatch, then switch back to plain water. My chicks bounce back quick and I have not lost any since I started doing this.
