I am pretty new to the site and to permaculture as a whole, but have been reading as much information as i can for the past several months. I live in WV, and just wanted to see if there were any other people from WV on here.
I'm located in Southwestern Virginia and have been very much interested in permaculture for the last year. I too have been wanting to get to a pdc, but couldnt afford it since I'm a college student and the only person that works a job in my house. I really wish there was more permies in my area.
That's the same thing I'm doing... I'm in roane County. I have bought an old 36 acre farm, and plan on adding pigs, dairy goats, and sheep to my system soon. I currently raise chickens, quail, and ducks.
I'm in Calhoun Co WV. Also trying to turn this place around. Lost much because of illness. Now just trying to keep warm for winter. Trying to sell a piece of land to keep my head above water. Looking forward to spring.
Hi, new to the forum.
New to permaculture.
We're in North Central WV and just starting to experiment with 25 acres of established hardwood forest on a southfacing hillside.
There is a possibility of a piece of land in Grant County, WV that may be available to a permaculture school or course for a long term project. Low cost housing is available for students and workshop attendees. No zoning here. We want to create a permaculture visitor site that supports an artisan intentional tiny home community that will be part of a broader intentional village.
Has anyone dealt with juneberries/serviceberries? I discovered them this past spring in the woods along the river in Fairmont. They are eaten by children sometimes. I want to experiment with them this year... find out if they can be canned, dried, etc. In some places they are quite plentiful.
Hey folks. My name is Jesse, me and a few others recently bought property in Berkeley Springs that we hope to slowly turn into a permaculture style, educational homesteading/farming experience. I'd love to get to know some permie folks in the area! :]
Third year container gardener checking in from Kanawha County. I'm new to the site. Very excited to expand my operation this year and grow some food items I've never tried before.
I'm in Greenbrier County, WV. No land yet. Looking. I'm interested in a pdc - sorry I missed Feb. Hope it was a successful class. Other interests: cob, wind/solar, foraging. Nancy
Jack Spirko announced today that he will be building his model PermaEthos permaculture farm/community near Charleston, WV on the Elijah Springs Farm. He plans to run several workshops and PDC's from the farm.
Jack is looking for 1 and possibly 2 tennant farmers to work the land. Good opportunity for someone without land that wants to gain experience and be compensated.
I am indeed! Small world we live in... at least on the internet. Had no idea you were into permaculture. You'll have to show me what all you have going on at your place sometime.
Hey John! Sorry for the slow reply, things have been hectic I have Ossabaw Island Hogs. They're a small (150-200lbs) heritage breed listed as critical by the Livestock Conservancy and are also listed on the Slow Food Ark of Taste. They're lovely, hardy foragers and I'm hoping to start offering a small number of piglets beginning next spring.

Hello from Hardy County in the eastern panhandle. We recently purchased 9 acres and are in the process of turning it into a homestead. We've started with chickens and vegetables. This spring we want to expand to include hogs, fruit trees, berries.
I'm an engineering student in Morgantown; I've been reading permies for some time and hope one day to meld the disciplines of permaculture and engineering to help create a stable living environment for humans and other living things.

I hope sometime next year to have an arrangement on our land where I can accomadate a few. We'll see how it goes and maybe we can do some business.

Those cherries would go best on cherry cheesecake. Don't put those cherries on this tiny ad:
