does anyone have a homemade duckling starter and homemade adult duck feed recipe? I would like to avoid gmo preferably so that means no corn or soy. If no homemade recipes any commercial brands recommended?
I know this isn't homemade, but here is a link to a product made in Texas called CocoChick. It is non-GMO, and I was told by the owner that it works fine for ducks as well. Can anyone confirm that the listed ingredients have proper nutritive value for ducks?
Also, BackyardChickens.com has a nice list of table scraps that can be fed as supplement.
I start my ducks on Rye Grain totally run with Oyster mushroom mycillium. It does wonders. As adults they free range and forage about 10 months a year. Mostly slugs and worms and sprouting seeds, though they'll eat some greens too.
I mix my own feed following the package directions on a product called Ultra Kibble. It calls for mixing 1 part Ultra Kibble to I think 7 parts chicken scratch. I get organic chicken scratch to avoid the GMO issue, and the product itself is soy free, but not organic. I don't feel it's a perfect solution but it may be something you want to look into.
