Morning Music

I awaken before dawn to the sound of music!
The birds are starting to claim their territory
They discuss the agenda for the day
With loud shrieks, songs and beeps.
Beeps?
I listen closer.
Beeps!
I wake up more, beeps?
Ah! As I get up to begin my day also
I add to my agenda for the day
“replace the smoke alarm’s battery”

I have never figured out exactly why the smoke alarms decide they need new batteries just before dawn. They don't beep during the day or later in the night. I wonder if it has something to with the temperature drop just before dawn.

And it inspires bad poetry.

Interesting, that was my theory originally too. However, the rechargeables Hubby's using now seem more inclined to go off at 2-4 am, so there may be a set point to that temperature drop?
