I'm interested in hearing anyone elses experiences going into 2026 with aetna or any other prescription drug insurance premiums that have suddenly tripled in cost...are you sticking with them?  is there a cheaper option?

My only prescriptions are three types of eye drops for glaucoma...I've already lost a lot of peripheral vision from years of no treatment and I am not considering stopping these, just looking for more options and lower prices.

I've working on transitioning from brick and mortar pharmacies to online pharmacy ordering.

I can only get a 30 day supply at my local pharmacy but I can get 90 if ordered online. It is a touch cheaper as well so it makes it worth it for me. My insurance had a preferred online vendor, your might have something similar?

can I do that with no insurance?
I'm seriously considering dropping it.

Full disclosure, I have not tried using an online pharmacy without insurance but I do know that a bunch of them advertise specifically for that crowd. I believe sites like Good RX are primarily a 'coupon' pharmacy that gives pretty transparent pricing for medications. Costplusdrugs is another similar company.

Hi Judith,

Be aware your needs can change.   I would walk into a pharmacy and ask about the price difference.   For what it is worth, I just got a notice from Humana that seems to say our rates are being lowered…by a whole $10…but that is downward.

Hi John,
I've been paying out premiums on that assumption and with the changes I see coming I'm just willing to risk it😏

I did look at cost for my drops at 'big box' with no insurance and the prices are not impossible since the drugs are generic.  The total doesn't quite reach the total of my monthly premium.

I wouldn't mind switching to an online pharmacy either and it looks like some of them at least provide for those uninsured.

I've avoided Amazon for years and now see them at the top of forbes list of online pharmacies...apparently you have to have Prime to use them?
