Hi permies,

Long-time reader in these forums, I thought it was time I posted! I have lived in France since the early 00s, but also elsewhere; currently, I'm down in southwest France and just starting on a new garden. I was thinking about starting up a group to meet (virtually) on a regular basis and share our progress but also get tips about what we're growing/building, reliable suppliers, great places to visit for inspiration, events, people/local networks or schemes, etc. All with a French flavour, of course, but in English for the most part.

If you live in France and are interested in permaculture, is this something you'd find valuable and would make sure to turn up for? Would you like a regular check-in with likeminded people who give you encouragement, celebrate your wins, and help you stay accountable (if needed, of course)?

All we need is a date and time and an internet connection, so I feel this is very doable.

Let me know what you think!

Hi S biermann, nice to hear of a fellow Permie in France. There is quite a lot going on in France, but few French on here, just doing their own thing mostly. Young people speak better English so maybe... But it's always good to connect. I hope there is going to be a meet up again this year. Not that i've been before, but it would be nice to find out if that French permaculturist gathering is happening.
Speaking with likeminded people living in the same country sounds like a good idea to start. Aren't you on GoingToSeed as well?

Hi Hugo Morvan, There are also plenty of non-French people in France who speak English and I thought they might appreciate a space to exchange more fluidly, hence my question. Until you get really fluent in a language, there is a lot more effort required just to have a simple discussion, and more nuanced conversations around permaculture concepts can be a challenge if you don't have the vocabulary. I know I would have appreciated a space like this myself in the past.

I've created a simple form, so if you think this sounds like something you would like to do you can drop me your email. Once I have a few people signed up - enough to make a meetup actually work - I'll email with some day/time options and get something organised! https://1c5757df.sibforms.com/v2/serve/MUIFABR16T99fCk26HapaVn3kHfu8aHqbE5JUoRJezKE5JIBcibOAKGPyR_4PBHDdrRjw9R06RCkvPeVrsf5THH3zZpmW6fUZCX1712dhRbPbVn_oP-W-oHB6ct4FseDjLnbsD55am3QLoHOqKFLM95aFfDkpkPnjaDS1kI80eJkyxcr6xxM7_RYbgQHjKz74RCrl_b2i63l2ekY5w== (weird-looking link I know; it's nothing sinister, just a list created on brevo.com)
N.B. Your email will only be used for communicating about virtual meetups. Your information will never be shared with or sold to any other parties for any reason whatsoever. You can unsubscribe at any moment.
