Water is key, but so is shade! I have some salvaged Market Umbrellas. I pound a piece of rebar part way into the ground and slide the tube that holds the umbrella up over the rebar - sometimes there's a piece of plastic blocking the bottom but they're usually easy enough to remove. With pigs, you might have to hammer it in just outside their fence so they don't push it over.
One of our duck pens was at risk this summer, and I did this, and I'd regularly see a group of ducks relaxing in the shade it created. Yes, they were smart enough to move when the shade moved!
