Seeking Family Oriented Community

I'm a single mama to a five year old and am looking for a community with families and children. I thought I had found one but it turns out there is a ton of partying, fighting and drama going on. I am a massage therapist and I make clothing. We don't have much family and I'd like to join a community that could become that for us and I want my munchkin to have other children to play with.

I just wanted to wish you luck. My family and I (Jay and I have a 10 month old and 5 year old sons) are looking for the same thing from where we live now in the Northwest. I've heard people talk like there are a lot of opportunities like that out here but I think you may run into more of what you've found. We were thinking of looking into Eugene, Oregon, and also from here a lot of Montessori school's have preschool programs that are really cool for the kids and most seem like they encourage parents to be involved. I've heard of permaculture programs at the schools in Hood River, Oregon which is just up the gorge from Portland.

Hello fellows. I am so sorry for your bad experiences but equally happy you shared them here for future reference to others exploring the idea. Finding a good community in theory sounds straight forward but in practice compatibility is incredibly challenging. The human element is one of the most unstable aspects and unfortunately there is little recourse. I wish you well on your search!
