Small Cars - What do you drive?! WHY?

Mini vans are great.   Especially a used Honda odyssey.   I also have a large diesel truck that is great for work,  but not for errands

Currently driving a minivan, but have minimal commuting distance; previously had a 1st Gen Vibe (as mentioned near the beginning of the thread.)

If I was looking for something new (to me), one that would be on my short list, that I haven't seen mentioned yet, is the Mitsubishi Mirage: probably the closest "modern" equivalent to the Geo Metro.

Please be careful about used Mitsubishi models. I've read that they cut car production and parts drastically for the zN American market, so research fully your ability to repair.

I am concerned about (planned?) obsolescence of overly complex software.
The software in my Toyota bZ4x ev has a bug that turned off the window defroster.
The software update may mean I will need a new physical back up cam b/c original cam will be incompatible....

Good car except for the software and silly electronics.

I am in Denver. I am selling my 2010 Ford Ranger. Manual transmission. RWD. 25mpg. Only 96K miles. I bought it in 2016, and maintenance has been almost nothing. Everything is manual. Simple and  sturdy. Not much bigger than an ordinary car, easy to park and garage.

I still miss my 1992 Ford Fiesta.
I bought it used in 1998 for $700, and sold it in 2013 for $450.
Aside from getting about 40mpg, the cost of maintenance was trifling. About a year before I sold it, I bought 4 new tires for less than $150 - that included tax, extended warranty, and everything else.

I do not recommend a 2009 Nissan Versa with automatic transmission. Total nightmare.

Yes, as I posted elsewhere…I think, my Nissan Murano CVT was past 150,000 miles. My plans were to drive it till it dropped. Then I looked up the life expectancy of a Nissan Murano CVT.  It was clear it was time to begin shopping.
