Thank you, Hamilton, thank you, John, good to know that the person was right and that I did not accept the wood chips. Our property is very small and the drop would have been literally about 3 feet from the foundation of the house. As far as having things in the yard for the termites to munch, I have tried that route and have purposely left a rotting stump, as well as old branches in the farthest-from-the-house corners of the yard, and still there they were, munching away on the wood of our house itself. It seems not to always work, unfortunately.

A pest controller also told me wood chips can harbour termites. The termites are already in your area, it’s just a matter of how close they’ll get to your home.

Keep in mind that even wet cardboard and styrofoam boxes attract termites. The worst thing many people do is leave wood, cardboard and styrofoam boxes directly on the ground underneath their house. The CO2 attracts termites.

I have had two drops in the past.  They were good loads but both contained poison Ivy.  I am not complaining it was free and did the job for me.  I will take a load again in the same state, just wear gloves next time I am handling it.  Miss Ivy and I do not get along.  I have been on the list for most of this year but not received any loads yet.  I think Covid is slowing things down for  now.  I pay the $20, it's worth it for me.  I always tip the driver too.

I have been waiting over three years for a " chip drop" with no success. Fortunately I connected with a Friendly power line trimmer driver ,who also told his friends and have received 27 full loads in the past three years. A little gratuity here and there kept them coming .I have mostly gotton all the loads spread, so it's time to go find them again!!!

3 years seems like a long time to wait for a drop while also getting 27 loads of chips directly. Makes me wonder if people in your area aren't familiar with the service. As long as they're getting to where they're needed and not tossed in the dump, that's not a problem, so good for you.

We received 7 truckloads of woodchips in a week after a year of waiting due to a major storm a couple months ago. It seemed like a lot, but seeing them piled 8 feet high at the edge of the yard has given us ideas, and now we have a new gardening project that may or may not be ready to plant before the snow covers it up. 16 years living here and we're finally doing some earthworks! And we have perennials to move! Sorry Paul.
