Peat moss alternative

Confession: I watch shark tank

I saw on the recent episode about a company called PittMoss that makes a soil additive made out of recycled newspaper. It sells for less than the cost of peat moss and is supposed to hold water better as well.

It would be nice if people buy into this concept and stop using peat moss. It's not local but the way I see is that this is better.

This person is from my town, the research I've done on his product seems pretty legit, but I can't seeing it enter the organic market for various reasons.

I watch Sharktank as well! I am fascinated by PittMoss. Wish I could get some to Dr. Elaine Ingham and get her opinion of it.

Currently this product is not available to non-commercial growers.
While it is a great product it does have limitations they don't mention much such as it is not a soil acidifier (the main use I have of peat is blueberries).
It has no nutrient value.
