So I am up for wofati 0.8 being the beginning of "peanut village" provided that we get some villagers.

Peanut village is a place for gappers with kids.

With the changes in gapper stuff, I think this all works out perfectly.

With the old gapper stuff there were challenges. A family of 4 would provide 1.3 units of work and consume 4 units of resources. But now we no longer provide food and we no longer worry about how much work is provided. Plus, it seems if there are three or four families, then the kid watching responsibilities can be spread out a bit.

There are other things I could do with wofati 0.8, but I think I want to guage the peanut village interest first.

I love this idea. I will x2 what leah cardwell said in the other thread today on kids at the lab. Point is kids know most people think they are pointless until they are "of age" to "pull their own" or be out of the house. But it hasnt always been that way.
In pioneer america a couple would take whatever worthwhile goods they had and pack up and head out to utterly unknown places, have many children, and oft be completely self suffient. Imagine today taking any random couple and shipping them out in the same fashion. I can pretty much guarantee you they will trip all over themselves and absolutely loose it when the babies come along and you literally could not be "just" a stay at home parent.
You work hard. Soon as the kid is old enough to walk an know not to wander too far ya just made sure he got breakfast and he would find his way back from the mudpies and stick forts out front when he was hungry or tired. When kids are old enough to hold onto things they come along and carry things and tools etc. A pioneer girl of 6 would already be spinning on a drop spindle, sewing, helping take care of younger children,... and on and on. Today people dont think children are capable of anything and thus the children do not learn to be capable of alot of things because they learned they just arent capable of doing things.

Ok less ranting

If i were there already i think it would be awesome to setup wofati 0.8 ((i think thats what was posted??)) with a large kid safe yard. By that i mean no big tools they could get to layin about etc. But it would have tons for them to do and be capable of takin care of.
Like peanut village surrounded by peanut food forest and hugels and swales and little cob forts/playhouses etc. Ta da!

My mom used to babysit alot when i was a kid. I was 6 or so and she would be babysitting 7 or so kids age 4 to 12. Once the older ones realized it was neat to teach the younger ones it was easier. They would put together costumes and do fashion shows and mini plays. My dad once "entertained" 9 kids for at least three hours just scouring the yard for 4 leaf clovers. And a small city lot front yard.

If you believe in children and give them time and a bit of knowledge and attention you will be amazed with things they figure out and learn themselves.

I like this idea. This would be a way for me to stack some functions like camping with my family and being a gapper.

My favorite is a chocolate cupcake with white frosting and tiny ad sprinkles.
