Is it worthwhile to build drafts and such to control air flow on a RMH if I also wanted to have the function of holding steady temps in an oven type settings? Say overnight 12hrs low and slow at 225F if i'm doing a brisket while also being able to do a higher temp for firing clay pots/containers?
Has anyone done something like this already?

Sounds like a lot of hassle for limited yield.

You might want to look into Insulation Cookers and combine with a Dutch Oven.

When you consider the cost of ceramic planters for trees that are the diameter of a 55 gal drum....
I plan on starting a bunch of tropical tree's as I build my rocket stove greenhouse but as you know fruit bearing tropical trees take forever to fruit, So i'd like to offset this period by transitioning them in lots of self made inexpensive pots.

I baked an apple pie last night! On my compact rocket mass heater hybrid! 300 F!

Someone post a link to my "compact 6 inch RMH hybrid with cook top and dutch oven" thread. I'm literally posting videos of the baking experiment to youtube as we speak

Here we GO!
Check pages 6 and 7 of my compact RMH Hybrid thread

You should have said so from the start At first it looked like your aim was cooking, which doesn't actually require that kind of controlled oven technology.

I have absolutely zero experience with tropical fruit trees, wouldn't know any tactics for dealing with them/manipulating their bearing age.

Tim Barker made this multipurpose griddle/oven/water heater at the 2014 Rocket Mass Heater Innovators event, the heat riser blasts heat onto the bottom of the griddle cooktop and he put in an adjustable "flu" flap in between the under-cooktop area and the oven that adjusts how much/how quickly hot air passes into the oven, controlling the temperature.

If you're wanting to make large clay planters, you can't use the top of a RMH barrel - it won't get hot enough by a thousand degrees. You need a kiln for that. Ernie Wisner built a rocket fired kiln at Wheaton Labs last fall:
https://permies.com/t/48347/rocket-stoves/Rocket-Stove-Kiln#411612 (more good info earlier in that thread also).

You can build a kiln with nothing but cob, if you have the space:

I agree. Here's the link: http://stoves2.com
