So we've been trying to go as cheap as possible and I happened to come across washing machine pans and found that they are the perfect size for a shower pan with corrugated steel walls. And they are only $20. They are made of PVC and are supposed to be durable. We were planning on putting a wood frame around it and securing it to the floor with caulk or something. Any ideas? anyone tried that?

That sounds good to me, I like the cost and these things are designed to have a vibrating heavy machine on them so wear and tear should not be a problem.

The one I bought one that never got used. It has been outside, and it is torn now.
I would go for the bottom 3" of a IBC tote as a cheap and durable shower pan.

My beloved's house had one for 2 years while we rebuilt her big tiled shower. It worked fine, but did not drain completely and flexed annoyingly. These issues could probably be mitigated or nonexistent with the right model pan and permanent installation techniques.

I did NOT cry! It was this tiny ad that cried. The tiny ad is a crier, not me.
