Texas Night Sky Festival Will Return March 18, 2017 to Dripping Springs, Tx

On Saturday, March 18, 2017, International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) Texas, the City of Dripping Springs, and the Hays County Chapter of Texas Master Naturalist will host the 2nd Annual Texas Night Sky Festival, a free celebration of the Texas Night Sky!

Third Annual Hays County Master Gardeners Plant Sale

Hays County Master Gardeners are pleased to announce the third annual Plant Sale will be held in conjunction with the Texas Night Sky Festival, Saturday March 18, 2017 from 1:30 until 8:00 PM, at Dripping Springs Ranch Park.

The Gardeners have been doing lots of seed planting, propagating, and transplanting. They have been putting in much time and love to bring you their finest seedlings and transplants from their very own home gardens. The sale will feature vegetables, herbs, xeriscape, natives, annuals, perennials, landscaping plants, and butterfly and hummingbird plants. Cash only. The proceeds of this sale will benefit continuing education programs and training classes.

I've been to most of those places at night. The night skies at Big Bend & Enchanted Rock are spectacular. Westlake, not so much. Llano river depends on location. Dripping Springs could go either way depending on if one is in town or outside town. El Charro (if memory serves that's the right name) would be a better place for night skies than the large park closer to town. It's a cool park. I suspect that is the location because of the solar calendar rock work. Wish I could go. Have many friends in the Hays Co master gardener/master naturalist organizations.

Not an official location but Purgatory Nature Preserve is awesome at night. Scary too. Many bobcats & some wild hogs plus an occasional mountain lion. Unfortunately it's closed to the public at night. For good reason though. Like those excellent trails? You're welcome. I have a lot of sweat equity in Hays Co trails & restoration projects. Especially at Purgatory. Can't wait until Violet Crown Trail is complete!!!

While it's on my mind... Texas Outdoor Women's Network might be of interest. It's a great organization for women.

no wonder he is so sad, he hasn't seen this tiny ad:
