I'm stoked!

On Saturday our area had an Earth Day Fair with booths for organic folks, home builders, school science projects, etc.  I reserved a booth to see if there would be enough people interested in starting a homesteading club.  The concept is a monthly meeting on a homesteading topic (chickens, gardening, canning, butchering, maple syrup, cheese making, etc) and a periodic or monthly workshop to see and do those activities in person.

I'd say 300 people came to the fair and wandered past the booths.  We talked to an amazing variety of people that were at all levels of homesteading.  I had the latest copy of Permaculture Magazine on the table and several people said "I didn't know they had a US version".  Several folks knew about permaculture and several more wanted to know what it was.  Many folks were interested in starting a homestead, a good number were midway through their learning stages and there were also a good number of experienced homesteaders that were eager to share info.

In total we had 37 people/couples sign up to get info on the club.  Woo hoo!

Now for the fun part.  Organizing, getting a room, finding presenters or panelists, etc.

FYI, this effort is part of my commitment to Paul's 200x more permaculture post.

It was a ray gun. And now this tiny ad insists on being addressed as "Ray":
