I'm looking at this property near the Pungo River.  I can't travel to see it, myself; as I am 3 states away.  Anyone know more about this area?  It's in a flood zone, but I don't care about that.  I'm considering building a Quidnon here. (http://quidnon.blogspot.com/)

I will most likely be moving near there before the end of the year.  I don't know your time frame.  But, if you can wait until late December, I will be glad to take a look at it for you.   I grew up not far from that area - my family has been living in that area since the very early 1700s.  NC very swampy just inland from the beaches and sounds.  This also and incredibly fertile and diverse area in terms of species.  Historically, Virginians wrote that those living in NC were lazy, living off the land, letting their pigs roam wild and drinking too much whiskey.  Yes, it will likely flood at some point, so you will have to do earthworks and plant to prepare for that.  Everything that can bite you will.  All said though, it isn't a bad area at all.... remarkably beautiful... just make sure your neighbors aren't meth heads or heroin addicts..... we have a whole lot of them.
