Can one post a video on these forums?

Wow! I haven't looked around here in a while. These forums have really grown! Almost overwhelming. Regardless, it is good to see the interest!

But I digress. I didn't know where to pose this question so am posting here. Can one insert a video on these forums in the same way they can insert a photo? Or must one post their video on Youtube then provide a link to it here?

I gave it a whirl, and it looks like you can upload them as an attachment, but they'd not be embedded or able to be played without downloading them. Uploading to youtube and them embedding with the [youtube][/youtube] code around the url is probably the best way to go.

Some folks prefer Vimeo, so permies also has a Vimeo embed button in addition to the YouTube embed button. So, yes, to embed your videos, you'd (currently) have to upload to one of those two platforms.

For anyone new to embedding videos, Nicole gave the typed out coding that you'd need for when you're in the mobile view, though in the desktop view there are buttons for this in the toolbar any time you reply or create a new topic:
