Looking for advice, help and experiences on building a yurt or strawbale home myself

In the next year or two I will be purchasing a few aces and living off grid, alone. I'll have no help in building a home, and I'm trying to decide whether a yurt or a straw bale home would be safer and more practical for me. Both appeal to me, straw bale for its simplicity, yurts for their portability and the fact that I can one can transition my yurt into a permanent home using the framing as a base to work off of though I question whether I can stay dry and otherwise protected from the elements in a yurt. I'd like to hear what materials and type of structure you think best for someone working alone, any experiences or advice on solo home building and especially any sorts of floor plans or guides to solo home building of this nature. Hi Dieter, welcome to Permies!  I have no personal experience with either style to share.  But it may be helpful if you could share the environment you are planning to build.  Wet/dry, Hot/cold, etc.  A rough location in the world would also help.  I can only assume that straw bales may be better than yurts in very cold areas.
