I am hoping to start breeding British Lop Heritage pigs in Spain as no-one is currently doing so.  Do people think that Kickstarter is the right platform or should I look at alternatives? I don't want to sel pork per se but encourage others to raise their own heritage pork free range.

What would you offer as incentive to donate? Piglets?

I love the idea, and wish more people were doing similarly with heritage and landrace breeds suited to their locales.

On that note, though, are there any breed characteristics that you know of likely to help or hinder it in a more southerly climate?

It's a fine idea as has been stated, but also as has been asked, what are your incentives to donate?

For most folks, the urge to donate is a selfish one - whaddya gonna do fer me? The altruistic giving is rare, unfortunately.

There are other platforms than Kickstarter that exist to help you utilize your existing network to get the funding you may need to get the party started.

Some things I can think of to help would be a documentary video on how heritage breeds are raised (shows your experience level), importance of heritage breeds to genetic diversity of the species, and so on. There are a lot of things along these lines - and remember that having the work mostly done prior to starting is a great thing.

The overall mission is to change the world. When you've done that, then you can read this tiny ad:
