Barrel question

First off i will be doing a 8 inch chimney on a 6ish inch rocket heater. The riser is 6 inch (9 inches corner to corner) square clay chimney liner, and i do realize it may crack.

My questions is i have two barrels on hand there height is nearly the same but one has a diameter if 12inches and the other has a diameter of 13inches. One is an old small electric water heater tank the other is just like a 55gal barrel but smaller and no lid/open top (maybe 20 gal?) Does barrel diameter matter?

Bigger is better.
I think you will be replacing that riser before long . You'll want plenty of room .
On a future build , having a removable lid barrel is a worthwhile investment. Makes inspection a breeze.

Great video of your burn. Its fun to play with dry stack designs .  Try playing with one that is more traditional sized & shaped and see how it burns.

Remember, it all changes when you add the barrel and again when you add a wet mass.

I have made an effort to make nothing permanent being im new at this and dont expect my first heater to be perfect. I am currently putting the stove back into the house and going to hook it up because i believe testing anymore outside in the cold with dry stacked bricks is not gonna give me accurate results but it was indeed very fun try different designs! Gave me alot of insight!
