FYI this is my first post on any forum so I hope this is what I am suppose to do...

I am in need of a case or protective case for my laptop. I want to avoid buying something with excessive (or any) packaging. I also don't want to buy anything made from or containing any plastic. I was hoping for something biodegradable. Does anyone have any suggestions??

There's always an option to scour online and buy used (but plastics) - or, there do seem to be some cool cases made from wood burl and/or composites.  Pros and cons to each option.  Good luck and welcome to the forum!  :)

Look for a local leather worker who can make one. They aren't complex things, and leather is good and solid.
I use fabric bags, but that's because I sew and make my own. Someone who sews is easy to find too, if you don't sew.

Leather jackets or leather upholstery that is ripped, are often free or very cheap. Glue or stitch this to felt. An inner sleeve of silk would provide easy movement and prevent the thing from getting covered in fuzz.

Welcome to permies!

This is the sort of thing I would bank on finding at a thrift store, or a gov. liquidation place. Not gonna be a lovely biodegradable one, but to me re-use is an acceptable option.

Better yet would be one with damage that can be had for nothing and repaired.. but that's more luck of the draw. Office building dumpsters, friend's basements...
