I have a well on my property that was working until we dozed the  old cabin down . Question is , is there a alternative method of getting water from this well for a garden with out using electric pump? There is also old concrete septic tank ( not used for 5+ years) that still holds water . Can it be used for garden watering if I have, it cleaned out  ?

What kind of pump did it have?

How about a hand pump with a positive displacement piston/cylinder/check valve at the bottom of the well?

How deep?

Finest regards,

troy

Wow!  yes you sure can. You would need to know how deep the water level in the well is first. Then install a proper hand pump on the well head. Please see: http://www.survivalunlimited.com/handwaterpumpdeep.htm I bet you could reuse the tank for garden water but you would also have to pump the water out the tank to use on the garden. Wouldn't it better to use the tank as a septic tank? How is the septic field?  It would make a great place for a off the grid tiny house..

Hey...I have recently installed a water pump and I just want to know it's flowing capacity. How can we calculate it?
